Jason Goldman Petri
Elite Tennis, Youth Tennis, Tournament Training

Jason Goldman-Petri, Science-Based Tennis Coach, has been teaching tennis for 16 years. Jason is from Baltimore, Maryland where he also attended school at The Johns Hopkins University receiving his Bachelors in Psychology. Shortly after, Jason became the Head Coach of the Men’s and Women’s Teams for Stevenson University. While at Stevenson University, Jason was in charge of planning/scheduling all dual matches for the teams, budgeting for the programs fiscal year, organizing fundraisers for the teams spring break trip to Hilton Head SC, meeting NCAA regulations and standards, recruiting players, and running all practices and matches. After marrying his wife, Amanda, and becoming a father to his first son Blake (now 11 years old), Jason moved to Texas where he became the Tennis Director of two Country Clubs with the ClubCorp network. While at ClubCorp Jason was responsible for staffing a team of coaches, pro shop staff, maintenance workers, day-care workers, and other seasonal staff. Jason was also responsible for the tennis department's bottom line which meant budgeting, forecasting, P and L sheets, payroll, flowthrough, EBITDA, and tennis/fitness revenue. Jason did all of the department planning including the marketing calendar, newsletter, clinic schedule, event schedule, and employee schedule. Jason was also responsible for managing the pro shop which included coordinating with vendors, ordering inventory, doing weekly inventory, running promotions, and making sure that reservation systems and client connect steps led to the best customer experience possible. In Jason’s first year he was able to turn a -10,000 EBITDA for the tennis department into a +10,000 and grow the tennis membership by 50 members. When Jason’s second son, Alex, was born (now 5 years old), Jason relocated to Florida to become Head Coach at the prestigious IMG Nick Bollettieri Academy. There, Jason was the Video Analysis Expert for all levels, including top players in the world, such as Kei Nishikori. Jason also researched and developed classroom strategy and mental sessions that have become the basis for the content taught by all coaches at the academy. Jason was the head coach of a group that would be between 10-24 players depending on whether it was during the full-time year or summer camp. This meant being in charge of up to 6 coaches, creating daily lesson plans, monthly periodization calendars, tournament preparation and scheduling, communication with parents, teachers, and other support staff, as well as monitoring all players steady improvement and physical health. Jason's work has been published numerous times in prestigious coaching magazines, such as the PTR Magazine. He is the author of two tennis instruction books, available on Amazon, Tennis Circuitry: Master the Software of a Professional Tennis Player, and, Tennis Circuitry: Master the Hardware of a Professional Tennis Player. Jason has coached all levels, from beginners to professionals, and all ages, from 3-90. Jason's teaching motto is: “We cannot truly know the potential of any player until they have already gone through the process, so we need to train everyone as if they have the potential to be great.” He also believes in teaching "The Why" in addition to "The How" so that players understand what is happening to them and can make better adjustments and decisions out on the court during competition. Jason is super excited to be working in Los Angeles for the first time and cannot wait to get out on the court with community members of West Hollywood. Jason’s responsibilities will be roughly 40% operational (systems, planning, payroll, marketing, etc), 30% human related (hiring/firing, training, managerial oversight, ensuring customer satisfaction, and being the community face of the operation), and 30% providing high quality instruction to the community
